Boston

Although money's been tight lately, Randy and I figured we just can't go any longer without some sort of vacation. Every year since our 1st anniversary, we've taken some sort of unplanned roadtrip. It's been a fun yet inexpensive way to celebrate each year. This year, we decided to drive "eastcoast country". It's also become tradition that Randy's mom accompanies us each year. It's a good way for us to see her, Logan to see her, and to get an extra set of arms since we always take Logan with. It was a great trip.... and anniversary :)

So I just sent out a new batch of invites to again view our blog.  Sorry it took so long!  We recently had an extremely inappropriate post on our blog (quite sure it was someone we didn't know), so I immediately put our blog on "lockdown", but then wasn't quite sure how to allow access to friends and family again.  Now I just need to figure out how to add a pretty background....any suggestions would be appreciated!

So Logan has been learning new things each day, and I feel like it's all coming so fast that it'd be easy to forget all the cute and new things he's doing lately....
Here's the list:
* LOVES the Wheels on the Bus song:  We play it over and over...and over....and over again. :)  He knows all the actions by heart and does them so enthusiastically he often falls over in the process.  It's so adorable that we've tried to get a video of it, but as soon as he sees the camera, the show is off.  One of these days...
*  He sings his ABC's.  It's the cutest thing when he's playing with his toys and all the sudden you hear a faint murmur of the ABC song.  By far, his favorite letter is "P" :)
*  He can spell his name (kind of).  I've heard him do this once, but comes very close most of the time.  It surprised me half to death when he first did it.  We were outside playing with chalk and I was writing and was going to say the letters as I wrote them.  After "L", he had the rest.
*  He's VERY friendly.  He says a great big "HI" to everyone we see when we're out and about.
*  He has the CUTEST wave.  When Randy and him are out and about and drive home, all I see are his eyeballs peering out of the back window and his hand waving back and forth.
*  He has a GREAT sense of direction.  He always knows exactly what direction the fire station is, where Karlyn's house is, where Anna's house is, and (sadly), where McDonald's is.  We're not so proud of the whole McDonald's one....
* He's very concerned about others.  He hates to see other kids cry or get hurt.  If they do, he'll usually go peer them in the eye and talk to them sympathetically.
* He's very helpful - especially when I blow dry my hair in the mornings.  It never fails - every time he hears the hair dryer turn on, he's there in a flash, offering me my brush :)
* He's talking up a storm!  This has really just started in the last few weeks and he's catching on quickly.  He can communicate nearly anything to us at this point, although he still signs "help" "please" and "thank you".  I'm glad we didn't do more signs.  I'm now starting to wish he'd be saying those words instead of signing them.  Better than nothing I suppose....
*  He still has a biting issue, but will often get frustrated, search violently for something to bite, open his mouth around someone someone or something, and then....realize he's about to bite, and gives a kiss instead.  He's doing so much better than he was a few months prior.
*  He's so good at "time out".  We hate to use it, but we're probably as consistent as we can be with it.  It doesn't matter where we are or what we're doing, if he bites, hits, throws, or hurts someone else, he is in time out - and he knows it.  He'll even go put himself in time out if he realizes that he's done something bad.  He sits there still as a mouse with a sheepish look on his face, until you tell him it's ok for him to get up.
*  He can spot a "bus" from a mile away.  Before school was out for the summer, we'd have "bus hunts" on our way to daycare.  He would often spot them before I would!
*  He has a thing right now where he gets scared easily.  His two biggest culprits are monkeys and loud trucks.  Neither of them are good.  He also has this thing where we won't usually play in another room.  He'll bring his toys into the room we're in, but is too scared to play in a room of the house by himself.  Even if we're just in the next adjoining room...
*  He LOVES his "papa".  My dad means the world to him right now.  He has to look at his picture about 20 times a day (sometimes that's no exaggeration!)  He loves to go spend time at Grandma and Grandpa's and this makes Randy and I very happy when we get a date night every once in a while and know that he's having a blast playing at Grandma and Grandpa's too...

I'm sure there's more....just like I said, hard for me to remember them all at once.  Maybe I'll have this post be a work in progress.  Now I just gotta work at capturing all these moments on camera!

Pictures!

As promised...here's a little photo catch-up from the last several months...Logan got a new chair (just his size!) for Christmas. He loves reading and he loves his chair. What a perfect combo!

Logan has developed new climbing abilities to find that one perfect toy...

has a new infatuation with brushing his teeth... (hopefully this continues)

LOVES to dance and be silly...

and went from this....
to this...after his first haircut.... (now looking back on this, I can't believe we didn't do it sooner!)
Has developed many friendships...

And even enjoyed his very first Wild game, in the General Mills suite (which was just that, very "sweet" for Logan to run around in, and us to not have to worry about him running off!)

And to top it all off...here's an adorable clip of Logan ever-so-proudly eating his yogurt. (Nevermind my annoying voice - I don't know if it's just me, but I never can handle listening to myself on video. sorry.)

Now...hopefully I'll be better at updating from here on forward... :)

Did you think we'd ever return?

So I keep thinking that I should update our blog and not be such a putz, but time gets away from me. That and the fact that taking the computer out when Logan is around is just asking for way too many time-outs and lost patience. I guess I've decided that I'd rather leave our blog abandoned than waste my time batting Logan's ever so sly advances to the keyboard. But hopefully that will change! Hopefully.... Here's to a new beginning... :)

Anyway, so the Petersen family has been busy busy busy. Here's our tacky Christmas letter-style kind of update:

Randy: Randy has been busy with scouts, with work, with finding NEW work, with socializing, with pooper-scooping people's yards (there's a new hobby!), and with hanging out with us in the moments in between.
Leah: Leah has been busy with her new calling as Relief Society Secretary, with work and taking on new roles at work, with learning how to sew, with learning Geneology work, with socializing, and with mommy business (including but not limited to: singing, dancing, playing, sorting, cleaning, teaching, reading etc. - not to mention frequent trips to the childrens museum and library.)
Logan: Logan has been VERY busy with talking, dancing, learning, running, jumping, climbing, helping, playing outside, reading, and becoming friends with "Eebee".

This makes for a very busy and sometimes CRAZY household! But it works for us, and we're grateful to be involved in so many various activities.

P.s. Hopefully one of these days I can actually find time to post pictures!
