7 weeks and 7 hours!!!

Logan slept 7 hours IN A ROW last night!!! I'm still wondering how that could have happened and am still wondering if I could have possibly gotten up with him and just don't remember, but I honestly don't think so! He's been pretty good at sleeping at night and has been inching towards the 4 hour mark before waking up, but all of the sudden...7 hours!?! I attribute part (or pretty much all) of this success to our new favorite item:

One week ago, he hated his swing. Then my mom comes, puts him in his swing, and now it's his new best friend (and ours!). We'll one day wean him of it, but for now we're just enjoying our sleep. :)

One Month

Ok. So we've been seriously slacking on keeping this thing up to date (our blog that is)....but quite frankly, I can't even find time to shower or fix something to eat, much less think of things to post. I keep telling people that the old Leah is out, and the new "no-showering, spit up on my shoulder" Leah is in. It's funny how such important tasks have now been replaced with new important tasks such as consoling our new baby. Don't worry... I'll one day shower and eat a meal that actually takes preparation once again... I hope :) Becoming parents has been the most incredible and rewarding experience we've ever had, but by far the hardest thing I've ever done, too! Mr. Logan likes to make each day totally unlike the day before it and make it totally unpredictable for mom and dad. We understand his concern though. He's been through a lot in the past month. Yesterday he had an awesome day. He was happy and content and took good naps. Today, however, he was super cranky and I ended up having to drive to the nearest fast food joint to actually get some lunch, since there was no way he was going to let me fix something at home. I ended up eating the food in the parking lot...in silence, since he fell asleep on the way there. I felt like some closet fast food junkie as I sat there. He is cutting us some slack in the nighttime hours though...he's been an awesome sleeper at night for about a week now... just waking up every 3 hours to eat, and then falls right back to sleep.

Anyway, here are some new pics to show how he's growing. I think he's looking more like Randy each day.

Looks like he had a rough night... like the hair?

Feel priviledged. This may be the only picture I show of myself in my non-showered state.

Don't you just love this pose?

Logan and his daddy. Randy, is he making fun of you with that smile?

LOGAN STEVEN PETERSEN is HERE!!!!!!!!!!!

Look at his hair. We have no Idea where that came from.

Pregnant and without a ring....

So a couple of weeks ago, we sent my ring back to Logan, UT to Tim (who by the way is amazing). He is a jeweler at SE Needham's. Before Randy proposed, Tim and Randy worked for weeks on creating my ring from nothing but a few ideas. Anyway, we recently decided to add a wedding band onto my ring, but since it's so unique, we were having a hard time finding a band that would fit without covering up all the detailing on the sides. Needless to say, we sent it back to the miracleworker and above are the pics of what the band will look like. This is just the mold, before they even pour the gold, but I'm so impressed with it! Randy had both of our birthstones on the ring, his on one side and mine on the other. Therefore, the middle stone is actually Randy's birthstone.

Hence, pregnant and without a ring...not techinically anymore cause I felt too weird walking around without at least somthing on my finger. Therefore, a girl at work has loaned me a very large fake rock where the "gold" is actually tarnished on the sides.... hey. it works.

The Progress on the Crib

Dan and I have been working on this crib for about 2-3 months now and it is just getting to be exciting now. Before it was just a lot measuring and cutting and now it is fun to see it all coming together. Here are some pics.
P.S. I took these pics with the disposable camera that we bought in Nauvoo after our regular camera died. Sorry they suck.

The wood after it was planed off ( I think that is the word for made to look better from the ruff cut) and I had make a couple of hole in it already.

This doesn't look like much but it was hard to do for me.

Yeah this was not easy either, I guess every thing needs to be straight. Yeah, who knew.

Yeah this doesn't look like much either but that light wood is Ash and I had to drill 10 screws in to it to hold it down and make sure that the heads were flush with the top so the top cap of the darker wood (walnut) would fit tightly on it. Yeah ash is hard; I guess they make bats out of them. I broke two screws off in it so I had to figure a way to it those out before the top cap would sit flush. That sucked until Dan's dad came down and gave me the best tool in the world, a screw set drill bit. It did every thing I needed it to do and more . I love that tool.

Pregnancy Dream

So I've always heard that pregnant women dream really weird things...but never had that expereince yet - until the other night. I had a dream and it went something like this:
I started going into labor but somehow slept through it all. When I woke up, I thought "Wow. Those other women don't know what they're talking about! That was the easiest childbirth ever!!! Then the nurse comes in with our bundle of joy swaddled in blankets....only our "baby" was a very well groomed poodle puppy! It didn't even seem to phase me though...I was just so excited to finally hold our "baby." Shortly after, our friends came to visit in the hospital. They walked in, took one look at the "baby" in my arms, and said "Guys, it's a PUPPY?!?!??" It wasn't until that moment that I even realized that I was supposed to have a baby and not a puppy. Then I was just upset and wanted a real baby. Then I woke up.
Totally weird dream... if anyone could interpret for me, I'd be much obliged.

28 weeks and already a Neil Diamond fan....

Oh How a Year Changes Everything...

It was just one year ago this past July 14 that Randy and I were married in my hometown church in Sacred Heart, MN. A lot has happened since then...but being married is by far the greatest blessing to my life thus far. Now with a baby on the way, we're looking forward to becoming parents and witnessing all that life has to offer.
We had grand plans for our first anniversary before we found out that we're expecting a baby, and debated the last few months whether we should go all out for a full out "baby moon" or save as much money as we can and just stick around town. As the weekend drew closer, we still didn't have any plans, but spontaneously decided that this may be our last opportunity for a road trip. The Friday before our anniversary, we just packed up the car with nothing more than a couple small suitcases, a 6 lb. bag of gummy bears, and a map and headed for wherever the wind would take us. We ended up spending Friday night in Grand Rapids, Iowa; Saturday night in Nauvoo, IL; and Sunday night in Wisconsin Dells, WI. We literally spent next to nothing, and got to hang out exclusively for an entire weekend. It was great! We watched our wedding video in the car on the trip home and were completely grateful for all that we have and everything we have to look forward to together.
P.s. we'd post pics from the trip, but our battery was dead on our camera and so we bought a little disposable one...but we really don't have many on there either, as we were a little embarrased to use it :) I never realized how loud and obnoxious those "shoot and wind" cameras are until we've moved into the digital camera age.

Crib Bedding

Yeah! I'm so excited!!! I thought I'd never find any crib bedding that I liked... just as I was about to give up my search and just borrow from a friend...I finally found some bedding that I liked!! Now we just need our crib...

The wood for the crib

Last week we had a very good Saturday. We got up and started looking for garage sales like most of our Saturdays now. For the past couple of months we have been trying to decide if I should build the crib still or should we just buy it. The cost of the lumber was going to be about $500 and a new crib runs about $400 but, we found one garage sale that had some ruff cut lumber. we went and took a look to find out how much they were charging and we were pleasantly surprised. The man had a son-in-law that works in the logging industry in Iowa and He gets good deals through him. This man had too much lumber so he was getting rid of it. I told him what we were going to use the lumber for and it seemed like he wanted to help us so he gave us some Walnut and Ash for $1 per board foot. The walnut runs about $8.50 and the Ash runs $4.50 pbf at a outlet. Yeah so we got all of the lumber to make the crib for $36. I thought that was a good deal.
After we got the lumber in the car we went over to Sam's Club to eat I think and I thought that I would look at the clearance section just to see what was there and I found what I had been looking for for the longest time. I have been wanting this specific big screen plasma TV forever and it was on the clearance
rack, so I look at the price and find that it is about 55% off. Fortunately for me I just collected hail damage on my car for the second time in a year and that check would take care of my new TV and we would still have a few hundred left to save, so Leah said that I could get it and that day turn in to a awesome day.

P.s. To all the guys out there that like the office I know I am leaving my self open for a very funny comment with my title, so hit it out of the park.

Pictures

OK OK....I'm finally at a comfortable enough point where I feel ok to share my latest belly pic. :) I know in a previous post I said one was posted, but after uploading it, I didn't like it and removed it right away...sorry. Thought I'd build some anticipation at least.... Now at 21 weeks, I definitely feel pregnant. I can feel all the kicks and motions and am loving every minute of it. I've heard it said before that the second trimester is the best, but boy am I really loving it! For the most part, I feel pretty normal.
I'm also including a picture Randy and I on my "first" soon-to-be Mother's Day. Enjoy!

OH YEAH....and in case you haven't heard......it's a BOY!!!! :) (Randy got lucky)

The New Pics of the Baby

Hey guys here are the new pics of the baby. We are not telling what it is to my family yet so please don't leave any comments telling what it is. They are going to find out tomorrow. I think it looks like me (Randy). What do you think?

15 weeks

Ok. Ok. I know many of you are waiting to see belly pics, so here's the first one. We've taken a couple before this but I didn't feel like the baby was showing much before. I just felt fat and bloated more than anything else. I'm glad to actually start feeling pregnant now and not just fat.
We had another doctor appt. on Friday. We DID actually end up switching doctors and have just moved to the building next door. We weren't able to actually meet with the doctor as she was booked full the day we made the appt. for. I feel much more confident that this one will work out, as she came with many high recommendations. Hopefully we'll be able to meet her at our next appt. Anyway, we heard the heartbeat again...which was nice to hear. I sometimes wonder what's going on in there, so it's nice to know things are still going strong. I can't wait until I can actually start to feel the movements and have the reassurance on a more frequent basis. We also made our appt. for our ultrasound the day before we leave for our trip to Texas. We actually had to beg them to do it a day early! But we're grateful that we'll HOPEFULLY be able to know the sex before going down to Texas.
Randy has also decided that he wants to actually build our crib. It ends up being more expensive, but the fact that it's solid wood and that it's something that can hopefully be passed on, makes it all the more worth it. I've attached a picture of the finished product. Our friends Dan & Katy made the same one and it's really nice. AND...they're gracious enough (and Dan's parents are gracious enough) to help and let Randy use Dan's parents house and equipment to build it. We picked out the wood this weekend, so now we just need to order it all and get started! I'll let you know how it progresses. Randy is not known for his woodworking skills, but hopefully it all works out, otherwise it'll be one expensive lesson!!! No, I'm sure he'll do just fine.....

Until next time,
Leah

Not much new...

Well, there's not much new to report on the home front... but I feel that we haven't blogged for some time, so I figured I'd write a thing or two.

About the baby...we are now about 13 weeks and went in for our another appt. last week. First time meeting the doc, and I admit I was a little scared of her! This is mistake #1...when choosing a doctor, BE SURE TO MEET THEM IN ADVANCE. Do NOT go by the photo on the website, because scarily enough... They can appear one way in a photo and totally different in person. This may just be shallow of me, but I try to choose someone who "appears" to approach things in a way that I would. I want to see eye to eye with my doc. This lady didn't fit the bill...SO, are we going to get another doctor? Possibly. But do I choose another random person based on their picture as well? I'll let you know. :)

Other than that, everything was good. We heard the heartbeat and are finally in the clear to tell people (even though it seems like everyone knows already....oops! We were just too excited to keep it a secret for very long...) I hope every pregnancy is as easy breezy as this one. I feel great, and the worst (well...part of the worst) part is over. I wanted the doctor to tell me that it would be that way for all future pregnancies, but unfortunately that is not the case. Randy is more than excited to find out the sex of the baby and has hounded the doctor for another ultrasound, but they obviously said no way. Hopefully we'll know before going to Texas over Memorial Weekend in May, though. That's the goal.

Randy's job is still going well. He began his first week on his own, and has been keeping up with the route pretty well (even considering the 12" of snow we got yesterday....and it's APRIL!!! Nuts.) I think this job allows him the flexibility and the interaction that really makes him tick.

My job is well into preparations for our company-wide move in May. The office is complete chaos at this point, with everyone cleaning and trashing old files. Our new building will be one of the very first LEED certified buildings in the Twin Cities (which means it was constructed with all "green" materials) so to follow suit, they have not constructed any storage space into the plans, as we are responsible for scanning or thowing all that we cannot fit in the common areas. This means that I am stuck with much of the scanning for our team, since I'm by far the biggest peon on the group. Lucky me.

Anyway, like I said...nothing new.

Till next time,
Leah

The new job

I just started my new job. I have been to the training and now I am doing all of the field training. It is great, the job is a bit different from what I thought it was going to be but that is not a bad thing. I am basically the liaison between the sales reps and the grocery stores. The nice part is that I will have a lot of freedom at work. I work from home so I get to choose my own hours and days that I work, but as long as I get my work done they are happy campers. There are a couple of downfalls like all of the stuff that they are sending me, my new computer, and our new baby's room is turning into a crowded office. Here is a pic. That is right, there are 4 computers in our household ( the other pic I thought was just funny. It is from our last vacation. It is real. I promise.) The one on the far left is General Mill's, next to the right and on top of the other computer is my personal, next on the bottom is Leah's old nanny boss' computer that she is doing her website on, and the last is Leah's mac. It is a bit tight. On top of that, we had to get a new storage space to store all of the display stuff that GM is giving me.

This next Monday is our 3 month appointment with the doctor. I am pretty excited I think that we are going to have another ultrasound and hopefully our baby is an early bloomer and we will be able to see the proof and all of you negative people out there will know that I am right.

This weekend we are going down to Leah's mom and dad's house for Easter. We are excited. We have not been home since Christmas and both Leah and I are itching for that relaxed feeling when you go out there. If you have ever been out to Steve and Karen's you will know what I am talking about. Leah and I love going home. Plus it has been way to long since we have seen Willy and Blue (bear)

My turn

Contrary to popular belief, it is a BOY. Let's just keep thinking positively. No, I will be just as happy with a girl. It feels like this pregnancy is just crawling by. I am ready for the first trimester to be over. I just want to make it through the clear with this whole morning sickness thing. I will be a very happy man if Leah keeps going like she is now. I do need to keep shoving veggies down her throat because she has a hard time chewing and swallowing them on her own, but she likes fruit at least... that is better than pickles and curly fries.

I am pretty excited to start my new job. I am getting a bit bored just trying to find stuff to my occupy my time. I am getting pretty good at this family indexing thing. Yeah, other than that I am trying to keep my Weblos boys in line and keep them from killing each other. They have this new thing now that they have divided themselves between the "Nerds and Jocks" and they are proud of the group that they are in. Weird I know, but I am just trying to keep the peace.

PREGO!!

So Randy and I thought that by now our pregnancy isn't so much a "secret" anymore to those we're closest with and figured that we'd create a blog to post pictures and the latest info on our little peanut since we don't live exactly "close" to a lot of our family and friends.  So yes, we are prego.  And no, I don't think we're having a boy like Randy likes to convince himself of....  :)  I've been feeling amazingly well, which I was most scared of at first, since throwing up is literally the worst I get.  I feel nauseous only sometimes, which is good cuz I've been craving Arby's curly fries and pickles like crazy (although I try to limit my consumption of sodium, and I've been doing good...considering.)
Today we had an appointment with the sonographer and got our first look at our little gummy bear.  There really isn't any better explanation for the way "he" looks (by the way, I only say "he" so it doesn't sound like some foreign object that is just an "it."  Plus, it fuels Randy's conviction that we're having a boy....but in my opinion, he's going to be so surprised when we find out it's really a girl!) The sonographer told us the heartbeat sounded good and everything looks like it's coming along fine.  She said we're about 9 weeks and are due October 10!  In case you're wondering, the top 2 ultrasounds are the traditional kind that just look like a big blob.  The one below is the 4-D ultrasound which allows us to actually see the baby as we do in an actual photograph.  The photo is looking at him head on.  You can see the dips where the eyes will be and the leg and arm buds.  Randy and I are hoping he gets a little cuter as he gets bigger, as he's a little homely now....  :)
Our next appt. is in a couple of weeks when we meet our doctor for the first time.  Can't wait!
